Welcome.

I have a thing for stars.

True, I can only pick out all of three constellations, but there’s something about those tiny pinpricks of light in the night sky that I just love.  Maybe it’s because they’ve been up there for so long, long before any of us that are walking this earth were born.  Maybe it’s because they burn so far away up in the heavens, just to give us a little bit of light for us to see by at night.  Maybe it’s because, for centuries, sojourners and seamen have guided the progress of their journeys by them.  Or maybe it’s the simple fact that my Father put them up there just by speaking a sentence, and there they were.

So, yes, I love stars.  It’s no wonder that they’ve worked their way into both my novel, Guardian, and my new blog, Starlit Wanderings.

But what about the “Wanderings” part of my title?  Why not “journeys” or “paths”?  And really, you’re right.  Either of those other two would do.  But what do any of us do in life except wander?  That’s not to say that we don’t know where we’re going.  Some of us do.  Others of us don’t.  But just because we’re wandering doesn’t mean we’re lost.  Sometimes we just have to go through a lot of places before we get to the place we’re headed for.

That’s really what I’m doing on this blog.  Wandering.  Mulling things over, blurting out thoughts, and more often than not, just being weird, and hoping that someone will join me in my weirdness and wanderings.

So welcome to Starlit Wanderings.  I hope you enjoy your stay, however long or short that may be.

All that is gold does not glitter,

Not all those who wander are lost;

The old that is strong does not wither,

Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

~J. R. R. Tolkien.

Shalom!
